Atlantic Beach NC - Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have questions about your upcoming Atlantic Beach vacation? We have answers.

The travel insurance we offer through Red Sky Travel Insurance is optional but strongly recommended. We recommend that you purchase this coverage so you and your family will be financially reimbursed in case of unforeseeable events. This includes protection against loss of vacation time due to job loss, severe storm evacuations, medical emergencies, and many other benefits. A brochure describing this coverage is mailed with every rental confirmation. We have a number of pet friendly vacation rental homes available. An additional non-refundable pet fee may apply. Due to homeowners' association bylaws, rental guests are not allowed to bring pets to any of our condominiums.

Each of our rental properties includes a fully-equipped kitchen, and we supply all linens and terry products (with the exception of beach towels), as well as the  departure cleaning at check-out.

Most condominium communities in our area offer charcoal grill areas on-site. If our rental cottages or homes provide a grill for guest use, it will be listed as a feature in the property's description. If you wish to rent a grill for use during your stay, please contact a rental agent and we'll be happy to put you in touch with a company in the area that offers charcoal and gas grills for rent.

Guests staying at Dunescape Villas and Island Beach & RacquestClub will check in on-site at our on-site office at Dunescape, 2111 West Fort Macon Road. All other guests will check in at our main office located at 513 Atlantic Beach Causeway. During our peak summer season, we may also offer check-in on Saturdays at A Place At The Beach. Please keep an eye on your e-mail the week of your vacation arrival for specific check-in instructions. We offer an early check-in option for certain properties that will guarantee the property is ready by 1:00 pm on the day of your check-in.  These early check-ins are limited and on a first-come, first-serve basis, so we recommend securing your early check-in arrangements quickly! If early check-in is unavailable, we can obtain your contact information and call you as soon as it is ready if you anticipate arriving before normal check in time.

Our company policy states the following regarding cancellations: "If your reservation must be cancelled, for any reason, all money paid will be forfeited (except security deposit) unless the property is re-rented for the entire canceled period and for the full rental amount. If we are able to re-rent the property for the full rental amount then all funds will be refunded except the trip insurance premium (if applicable) and a cancellation fee of $100. In order to protect your vacation investment, please consider purchasing the Travel Protection Insurance. Information will be provided with your confirmation. A request to transfer to another week at the same property for the same year will be honored if available and a $75 fee charged. A request to transfer to another property is considered a cancellation."

We are unable to offer a refund for loss of vacation due to weather-related events, such as a hurricane or a related evacuation. For this reason, we strongly recommend purchasing the travel insurance offered through Red Sky Travel Insurance.

The travel insurance may be added at any point up to 30 days prior to your arrival date.  Please bear in mind that you are not covered under the insurance policy until it is purchased. Red Sky Travel Insurance also offers a "14-day Free Look" after you purchase the insurance coverage. This is a 14 day period from the date of purchase during which time you can cancel your coverage and receive a full refund.

The Food Lion located in Atlantic Beach is within or less than 10 minutes from all of our properties here on the island. There are also several grocery stores in Morehead City that may offer specialty items. These stores are only a few miles from Atlantic Beach. Please ask your check-in agent if you need directions.

We accept personal checks for all payments made 30 days or more in advance. If the payment date is 30 days or less from arrival, we accept payment via Visa, MasterCard or money order.

In an effort to be environmentally conscious, we do not send out final payment reminders. We can schedule to charge your final payment on the day it is due.

 

Besides the beach and any available amenities at each condominium community, there are many additional activities for children to participate in. Atlantic Beach offers miniature golf (during season), skateboard park and playground with splash pad.  Additional activities include the North Carolina Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores, Fort Macon State Park and Professor Hacker's Lost Treasure Golf & Raceway, along with several public playgrounds.  In addition, there is lots to do in Morehead City and Beaufort. Some of the many activities include the North Carolina Maritime Museum, baseball games with the Morehead City Marlins, ferries and boat tours along the Intracoastal Waterway and Cape Lookout, and many small shops and attractions along the Morehead City and historic downtown Beaufort waterfronts.

Carteret County offers an extremely wide variety of locally-owned and franchise restaurants to fit any palate, budget or occasion. We have lots of information at the office about our dining selections, or you can ask your check-in agent about their favorites. Each of us have a few favorites we'd love to share with you!

As a general rule, condominium communities allow parking for two vehicles. Some communities may offer overflow parking on an assigned or first-come, first-serve basis. Many cottages also have parking for more than two vehicles. If you have concerns about parking availability for three or more vehicles or for boats, trailers or RVs, please contact your rental agent to make sure your property will accommodate your needs. 

We are open year round, 9 AM to 5 PM, with the exception of Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, and New Year's Day. In addition, we extend our weekend hours to 6 PM on Saturdays and Sunday during the summer. While we open our Causeway Office seven days a week during the off-season, we may close our satellite office at the Dunescape Villas.

If you arrive after the office is closed to check in for your reservation, your check-in packet will be in the late arrival box outside your check-in office. If possible, please call the office to confirm late arrival arrangements if you anticipate checking in after the office is closed.

Each reservation includes  bed and bath linens, but we do not provide a daily linen service. Fresh bed linens and terry products are placed in each unit prior to check-in, and we take care of the laundering services at our laundry facility in Morehead City after you check out. Simply leave the towels in the bathrooms and the linens on the bed and we'll do the rest! Many of our properties have either private laundry facilities or community facilities on-site.  Reservations for two or more weeks receive additional linens and a tidy clean service weekly. If you are interested in a daily linen or cleaning service, please check with your rental agent regarding availability and pricing.

We offer several oceanfront homes with a private outdoor pool. Search for outdoor pool- private.

Check-in is at 4:00 PM on your scheduled arrival date. Check-out is at or before 11:00 AM on your scheduled departure date. We ask that you have the keys and any additional items provided (parking passes, swim tags, gate cards, garage remotes, etc.) returned to our office by that time. Early check-in at 1:00 PM is offered on a limited basis; please call the office for availability. Because we must inspect and clean after departure, we do not offer late check-out. If we are unable to vacate and inspect the premises within a reasonable amount of time after 11:00 AM, late check-out fees may be assessed based on the nightly rate of your rental property. We work hard to prepare the property for you at arrival and for the next guest after you leave, and we appreciate your cooperation!

Your first payment is due within five days from the date you book your reservation. Your final payment is due 30 days prior to your scheduled arrival date. If your arrival is scheduled less than 30 days from your booking date, the entire amount is due within five days. If we have not received your signed rental agreement and first payment within five days, we will attempt to contact you and follow up, but it may be necessary to unbook your reservation and continue to advertise the property as available.

Certain properties accept nightly rentals with a two-night minimum. In the off-season, we can generally reserve a nightly reservation at any time. During the peak season, we have properties that accept short stays of three-nights minimum in advance. With other properties, we are normally only able to offer a nightly stay one week prior to arrival.

We accept Visa and MasterCard.

Lockouts happen from time to time, and we're happy to assist in the event you lock the keys inside the property. In case of any lockout, please contact the office.  During business hours, we will meet you to let you back into your property at no additional charge. After hours, please follow the auto-attendant prompts and leave a message for our on-call agent. We will return your call and come pick up a key to let you back into the property. Some agents are up to 30 minutes away from the office, however, so we appreciate your patience. There will be a $25 cash lockout fee for all after-hours lockouts.

We have several local vendors that offer watersports equipment ranging from jet skis to boat rentals. We can provide information after you arrive, or we'll be happy to help you make arrangements prior to arrival. If you are interested in watersports rentals, please let your rental agent know.

If you arrive after our office is closed and find an issue with your rental property, please contact the office and follow the auto-attendant prompts to leave a message for our on-call agent. We will return your call as soon as possible. We will handle after hours emergencies immediately (including but not limited to loss of power, water, heating or cooling, problems getting into/out of the property, etc.). Non-emergency issues will be handled when our office opens the next morning.

We offer beach chairs and umbrellas for rental. Our "Beach Combo" includes two chairs with detachable foot rest and one 7-foot umbrella for $85.00 per week. The beach chairs and umbrella will be delivered to your property prior to arrival and picked up once you leave. If you are interested in  other items, please let us know what you need and we'll be happy to make arrangements with a vendor in our area. These vendors typically offer the same delivery and pickup service for your convenience.

If you provided a credit card in lieu of a security deposit, we waived the security deposit and simply held the card on file instead. After your departure, we will make a full inspection of the property and contact you if there are any damages or issues requiring collection (i.e. long distance charges, pay-per-view billing, etc.).

If we find any damages, charges from long distance calls or pay-per-view billing, or other issues requiring collection, we will make every attempt to contact you prior to charging your credit card or collecting out of your security deposit.
