The Core Sound Waterfowl Museum is now occupying our permanent location, "at the end of the road" on Harkers Island.
Come to the museum while you are in Carteret County. The porch welcomes you to spend time with local carvers Thursday - Sunday and learn more about the hunting and fishing traditions of Down East. The museum is open year-round, seven days a week, closing only for Easter Sunday, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year's Day. Hours are 10:00am - 5:00pm, Monday - Saturday; 2:00pm - 5:00pm on Sunday. There is no admission charge; groups are welcome (please call ahead).
Harkers Island is located 17 miles east of Beaufort. Follow Highway 70 to the Harkers Island turnoff. Follow the Cape Lookout National Seashore signs to Harkers Island. Museum will be on the left as you enter Cape Lookout National Seashore.
