The 32nd Annual North Carolina Seafood Festival is returning the first weekend of October this year. Many locals and even people from around the state will come and visit the area just to head to this festival! Many people will stay in an Atlantic Beach vacation rental to be close to Morehead City just for this event. There are many different events happening for the weekend and you don’t want to miss out on the fun!
Friday, October 5th
Friday is the big kick off to the festival and this isn’t a day you want to miss! Beginning at 1 pm you can head to Big Rock Deck to enjoy some cooking demonstrations. These will be happening using Challenge Butter and will be happening on the hour all weekend long. Don’t miss out on seeing what kinds of goodies they will be making. The Southern Outerbanks Boat Show will also be happening as well to help showcase the best boats on the coast. Enjoy some live entertainment and music for you to help start the weekend right by dancing and singing along.
Saturday, October 6th
There will be a little more happening on Saturday for you and your family to enjoy. Go to the Family Fishing Tournament at Oceanana Pier in Atlantic Beach to the Bogue Inlet Fishing Pier located in Emerald Isle. You can also take advantage of entering into the 2018 Twin Bridges 8K Road Race for who like to run. And then there is the entertainment and the food. So much to do on this day.
Sunday, October 7th
On top of many of the other events happening through the weekend, don’t miss out on the Blessing of the Fleet. This is an event that gives tribute to those who bring their seafood to our tables and those who have lost their lives on the water. This is happening from 10 am – 12 pm so it’s something you don’t want to miss. Then you can also stay tuned for the Sailing Regatta happening at 12 pm for you and your family to see a competition on the water. What a fun event to watch just before heading home. Again, there will be amazing food for you and your family to enjoy and over 200 vendors for you to shop and eat from.
The Seafood Festival keeps getting better each year and this year you don’t want to miss out. Even the kids like to join in on the fun and enjoy what is going on. Atlantic Beach National Night Out
If you are looking to have fun with the locals then head over to the Town Park on August 7th from 6 – 8 pm. Held by the Atlantic Beach Police Department you will be able to enjoy bouncy houses, music, free food and prize giveaways! What a great way to get to meet the Mayor, Town Council and Town Manager of Atlantic Beach while you are on vacation! We hope to see you there!
Shackleford Banks Hike: Did Blackbeard See Horses?
Do you think that Blackbeard saw the horses of Shackleford Banks? Join in on a hike to the underdeveloped barrier island like Blackbeard may have seen while he was still alive. Happening August 9, 2018 from 8:30 am – 12 pm at the NC Maritime Museum in Beaufort, NC. Please note that children under the age of 12 will not be able to attend this. Cost of the hike is $30 per person and they ask for you to register before you head to the museum that day for the hike. And be sure to wear comfortable shoes as you will be in different terrain.
Beaufort Pirate Invasion
Ahoy, Maties! If you are looking for a little fun with pirates then you should head over to Downtown Beaufort on August 10th & 11th for some fun! Come watch as the town comes to life with all the sights and sounds of pirates for the annual Beaufort Pirate Invasion. This is a 2 day pirate festival that offers your family fun and entertainment everyone will love. Get to visit the Living History demonstrations, check out the Blackbeard Exhibit and more. If you visit along the waterfront you will see multiple activities such as musical entertainment, magic shows, and so much more. Admission is free and it’s one way to enjoy learning about the history of Blackbeard. After all it is the year of Blackbeard!
Yo Ho Ho and a Bottle of Run 5K
If you like to run then maybe participating in the Yo Ho Ho and a Bottle of Run 5K. This is a fundraiser hosted by and to benefit the Beaufort Pirate Invasion. Registration opens up at 7:00 am on the day of the race, August 11, 2018. Around 8 am a cannon fire will resonate through the Beaufort area marking the beginning of the race. You will be able to see pirates along the course to encourage and cheer the participants on. It is $30 per person or $100 for a “crew” of 4. Don’t let this event pass you by. All are welcome to join in on the fun!

This global event occurs each year to educate, mobilize and activate citizens across the globe. It is the largest civic-focused day of action in the world with more than 1 billion people in 192 countries participating.
Earth Day Network, the organization that leads Earth Day worldwide, announced that Earth Day 2018 will focus on mobilizing the world to end plastic pollution. This will include creating support for a global effort to eliminate single-use plastics along with global regulation for the disposal of plastics.

On Saturday, May 20 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. don’t miss the 4th Annual Atlantic Beach Music Festival on the boardwalk at the Circle, 115 Atlantic Blvd, Atlantic Beach, NC. Featured entertainment includes Coastline, Band of Oz, Fantastic Shakers, and Mighty Saints of Soul. Admission is free, but pets and glass containers are prohibited.
The Summer Kickoff Festival begins at 9 p.m. on Saturday, May 27 at 115 Atlantic Boulevard, Atlantic Beach. This is the official celebration of Memorial Day. Sponsored by the Town of Atlantic Beach come out and enjoy the fireworks display on Saturday, May 27 at 9 p.m. along the boardwalk at the Circle beach access. Bring your chairs, but please no pets or glass containers.
The Crystal Coast Music Festival will take place Saturday, June 3, 2017, in Atlantic Beach, North Carolina. Gates open at 12:30 p.m. Show starts at 1:30 p.m. Curtain at 10 p.m. Performers include NEEDTOBREATHE, Dr. Dog, Shovels & Ropes, Bombadil, Los Colognes, and Rebekah Todd & The Odyssey. Food trucks will be on the festival grounds for easy access to unique food for purchase throughout the event. This is a family friendly event. Children under 3 enter free. Location: 101 Atlantic Blvd, Atlantic Beach. Tickets can be purchased online through TicketMaster.
