From being able to find different exhibits from the Loggerhead Odyssey featuring Caretta’s Cove to the Living Shipwreck that holds 306,000 gallons of saltwater habitat. There is something for everyone in the family to enjoy and explore. And if you happen to have little ones, there is a Little Minnows Play Area just for them where they can play dress-up, ride and climb on cushioned toys and relax in a little book area. So many different adventures can be made here by visiting whether there is sunshine or rain. Battle Works is a fun and exciting adventure that you can enjoy with the kids. Here you will be able to play realistic tactical laser tag and is one of the best ones on the coast of the Carolinas. They have been open for 3 years in the area and is located in Morehead City which is just over the bridge from the beach. Please note that all players must be 12 years old or older and must be 54” tall to play. This can be a fun activity for the older kids and for the adults. Mac Daddy’s is located in Cape Carteret and is one of the best places to go on a rainy day. Here you and your family are able to take advantage of a game or two of bowling. They just had their Grand Re-Opening on February 1st and has many things for the family to do. Mac Daddy’s not only has bowling lanes for the family to use, but also has a massive arcade that you too can enjoy. With a mix of modern and old school games, there is something that the whole family can enjoy. There is also a snack bar that you can grab a few things from such as Hotdogs, Cheeseburgers and Nachos. North Carolina Maritime Museum in Beaufort is another amazing place you can head to on a rainy day. With many different exhibits that are always changing and different models and collections, the possibilities are endless. Admission to the museum is free of charge and it is fun for the whole family. Here you will be able to see many different artifacts from Blackbeard’s Ship, The Queen Ann’s Revenge. And after your lovely time there, then head over to waterfront for a bite to eat.

It’s the biggest annual event that happens every year that is made for the biggest chocolate fan you know, and it will totally satisfy every sweet tooth out there. Here is what you need to know about this year’s Carolina Chocolate Festival. You must tell your friends and family about this chocolate adventure you need to attend. It is held during the first weekend of February every year and is held at the Crystal Coast Civic Center in Morehead City. It happens to be the largest chocolate festival in Eastern North Carolina. Tickets to the festival are $9 per adult, $2 for kids 5-12 and kids under 5 are free. Active duty Military personnel will be given free admission on Sunday with your Military ID. What a perfect way to start the weekend filled with treats and sweets!

It’s a Chocolate Lover’s Paradise

Enjoy a Sweet Great on the Crystal Coast this Year

Not only will you get your yearly dose of decadent chocolate during the festival, it’s also be dubbed as being a chocolate lover’s paradise. Did you know that there will be a Cocoa 5K Fun Run & Walk, a Chocolate Spa and so much more! And if you have a little baker in your family, then you must allow them to enter into the Jr Cup Cake Wars! If you are a NC Resident, then your child from ages 10-16 can enter in the very first Jr Cup Cake Wars. The entry is free, and you must submit 2 dozen cupcakes to serve at least 8 with chocolate being the main ingredient.

Chocolate will be literally everywhere, and you will find chocolate vendors galore tempting you everywhere you turn. From wall-to-wall cakes to chocolate bars and ice cream. This even offers you more than a sampling of everything chocolate. Join in the hourly pudding eating contest, and even the door prizes that will be given away such as the “Golden Ticket”. The Golden Ticket Grand Prize happens to be a trip to chocolate’s own amusement park, Hershey Park for 4!!

Chocolate will not be the only thing that is being celebrated this weekend. Charity is the foundation of the event and allows the festival to continue year after year. The Carolina Chocolate Festival is a charitable organization that partners with local non-profit agencies that can all reap from the benefits and while enjoying chocolate. Some of the charitable organizations are Carteret County Domestic Violence, Second Blessings Community Outreach and Bridge Student Ministries.
