Santa after its over. Then head over to Merchant’s Park where your family will

Are you and your family coming to Atlantic Beach for vacation in October? If the answer is yes, then we have to tell you all about the 33rd Annual North Carolina Seafood Festival. The festival will be going on October 4th to 6th in Morehead City and is filled with delicious food. Staying in one of our Atlantic Beach vacation rentals will keep your family close to where the festival is at. Let’s look below at a few reasons why you must attend the North Carolina Seafood Festival.
Live Music & Entertainment
No festival is complete without hearing live bands, music and dancing in the streets. The North Carolina Seafood Festival is one of the most popular festivals in Eastern North Carolina. Many people love to come and not only enjoy the food but love to come just for the music. This year your family will be able to dance to many different genres and the live entertainment from many local groups.
Before you leave to go back home from your vacation, be sure to check out the vendors that will be at the festival. From getting your very own shirts to getting a commemorative poster, there is something for everyone. These make great gifts to those who love the festival but couldn’t get away to join you!
The festival isn’t complete unless you have tried the delicious food with the family. From grabbing shrimp and grits to trying new foods from local restaurants, you won’t go hungry during this trip. If you’re worried about the kids and if they will eat the seafood, have no fear because there will be food for them to enjoy too. Sit back on the waterfront of Morehead City and enjoy eating the food you’ll fall in love with.
While there are many other events happening in the area during the month of October, we wanted to share with you the North Carolina Seafood Festival. If you haven’t made your vacation plans yet to the beach to attend, now is the time. We hope that you and your family will enjoy the festival and eat as much as you can get!
Are you coming to Atlantic Beach soon for your family vacation? If the answer is yes, then we have to tell you about some fun kid activities you can do on the beach. Staying in one of our Oceanfront vacation rentals will keep you close to the surf and the sand. Let’s look below at a few of the fun kid activities to do on the beach.
Build a Sandcastle
Building is a sandcastle is what a lot of parents remember doing and your kids will love too. Make sure that you bring with you to the sand a bucket, a shovel, and a lot of imagination. This activity the whole family can join in and have a great time. To add some decorations to their sandcastles, they can hunt for different treasures on the beach such as sea glass, shells and more. Just let their imaginations run wild on making each sandcastle different!
Another fun thing that your kids can do on the beach is make their own hopscotch board. All they need is some sand, a stick to draw the boxes and number and something to keep tabs on who landed where. We do suggest that you have flip-flops or water shoes on your child, so their feet don’t get too hot on the sand. We don’t want them to burn their feet while they play this classic playground game on the beach.
A great classic game that is often played in the car can now be played on the beach. You can start the game by saying “I spy with my little eye, something blue” and have each child guess what it is. This game can be played for however long they want to, and it gives them an insight on what kind of things they can find in nature. Make this game fun for everyone in the whole family and get them involved in each game!
Build Sand Animals
Building a sand animal is just like building a sandcastle only they make it into the shape of their favorite animal. Each child will need their own bucket, shovel and their imagination as they design their animal in the sand. This doesn’t have to be a difficult animal and if its something that they child came up with their own, then let them have fun. You can then take a picture with your phone or camera of each child standing next to their creation and frame it when they get home.
While there are many other fun kid activities that can be done on the beach, these are the few we thought we’d share with you. If you haven’t made your vacation plans yet, now is the time. We still have plenty of Oceanfront vacation rentals to choose from. Make this vacation one that you will never forget!

of July, then you have been missing out on this fun event. Come to Jaycee Park

out as you jam to many different genres of music. At 9:00 pm the music will
fade and soon you will be able to watch the Morehead City Fireworks display in
the air. What a fun event for all ages and can be the highlight of your trip!
If you are wanting to try something a little different this year, then head over to the waterfront of Morehead City. Here you and your family can get a different kind of view of the fireworks from aboard a scenic cruise. Skip the battle of finding the perfect spot to watch the fireworks with the family and just enjoy them from the boat. What a memorable trip to the beach this could be.
Fireworks from the Beach

spot for the fireworks. You can view the fireworks from the beach and it’s like
nothing you’ve ever seen before. And just before the fireworks extravaganza you

May is here and so is the start of the sea turtle nesting season here on the Crystal Coast. Every year many sea turtles come to our beaches in late spring to make their nests. And when you stay in one of our Oceanfront vacation rentals, you may have the opportunity to see a nest or even a turtle. Below we have a few things for you and your family to remember as you vacation on the Crystal Coast this year during nesting season.
When Does Nesting Season Start?
Many locals love this time of the year not only because of the warmer temps but also in hopes to see a sea turtle. Beginning on May 1st each year and ends around the end of October on the Crystal Coast. This is the start of the sea turtles nesting season and it’s something you don’t want to miss each year while on vacation. During the night is when you may see the turtles come to the shore and lay their eggs in the nests they have built. The nests are along the coast of North Carolina not just on the Crystal Coast.
Help Protect the Sea Turtles on the Crystal Coast
Atlantic Beach takes protecting our sea turtles very serious as they have made their home on our beautiful shore. You will see several local volunteers each morning looking for new nests that were built the night before. Once a new nest is located, then they will be marked and roped off to keep the eggs safe from predators. Each nest is monitored for the next 50-70 days for their safety and for any activity of when they are ready to hatch. Here are a few rules to follow while you are vacationing on the Crystal Coast during turtle nesting season:
Do not disturb any of the nests as we want to help keep them safe while they are there.
Don’t use your flashlight on your phone and don’t leave the outdoor lights on overnight at your Oceanfront vacation rental. Each turtle uses the moonlight to help guide them back to the ocean and any other light will disorient them.
If you or your kids dig any holes to build sandcastles, bury each other for fun or find any holes after the day, please remember to fill them in. Not only can the sea turtles but also other people can fall into the holes which can injury themselves.
Make sure that you clean the area completely from trash, or your beach equipment after a day full of fun on the sand. Please clean up after your day at the beach and don’t leave any of your beach equipment on the beach overnight.
Please keep the beaches clean from any trash or plastic on the days you spend at the beach. We like to keep our beaches free of trash to help with the new hatchlings as much as we can.
These are the few things that you can do while you vacation with us but we wanted to share these as they are the most important ones to remember. If you haven’t made your vacation reservations, check out our Atlantic Beach vacation rentals today. We can’t wait to see you and your family on your next vacation to the Crystal Coast this summer!

Are you ready to hit the sand and sun at Atlantic Beach this year? If so then we understand that being prepared for you vacation means making sure your beach bag is ready for your trip. Staying in one of our Atlantic Beach houses will keep you close to the beach and will allow you to enjoy your vacation. We have compiled a small list of what to pack in your beach bag for your next vacation to Atlantic Beach below.
Beach Bag Items
Whenever you go on vacation with kids you want
to make sure that you have a beach towel packed for each member in the family.
This will not only help with the arguments of whose towel is whose but will
also help you keep up with the towels too. Bringing an extra towel with you is
always a good idea especially if you have little ones with you. Having a beach
towel with a different design can help each member in your group remember which
one theirs is.
Atlantic Beach sun is always hot during the
spring through fall months and so sunscreen is a must for any beach bag. Use a
sunscreen that is designed for your beach activities such as waterproof, sport,
high SPF, etc.). Dermatologists suggests that you use a sunscreen with at least
30 SPF while you are enjoying the sunshine. And don’t forget to Reapply
throughout your day as we don’t want you to ruin your vacation the very first
day your here with a sunburn. If you do happen to get a little too much sun while
on vacation, have a nice bottle of aloe in your beach bag as well.
Mesh Sand Toy Bag
Anytime you vacation with the kids, you know that sand toys are a must have in your beach bag. We understand bringing sand back with you into your vacation house is not necessary and can be quite a hassle. So, if you pack a mesh bag such as a laundry bag or a bag specifically for beach toys can help eliminate the mess. Just throw the sandy toys into the bag, give it a good shake or two and leave the sand behind at the beach.
Hats & Sunglasses
Bringing sunglasses and hats can be very useful
for anyone who visits the beach. The sun is much hotter than it is in the
north, so we want to make sure that your eyes and face are protected. Having
sunglasses will protect your eyes from the sun bright rays and will offer you
some relief when trying to keep an eye on your little ones playing. Whether you
have a floppy hot or a baseball cap, you will be happy that you brought these
along with you. Don’t forget to pack one for everyone in the family.
This is one item that you may not have thought
about, but it is a must whenever you visit the beach. Whether you are staying
in a vacation rental or you decided to drive your car to the beach access, sand
will be all over you when you leave the beach. So, bringing baby powder in your
beach bag will magically get the sand off of your body without irritation and
leave a nice scent too. This is perfect for everyone in the family and not just
There are many other things that you can pack into your beach bag, but these are the must have items for your next vacation. If you haven’t made your reservations for your vacation, then check out our Atlantic Beach houses today. We can’t wait for your family to come and vacation with us!
