We are updating our Facebook page with pictures and information from Atlantic Beach. Rain has stopped this morning. Island remains closed. Crews are out assessing this morning. There is no power in Carteret County. Things are not back to normal yet but give us some time. Flooding here and inland remain a concern.

Mandatory evacuation in effect for Carteret County. We are closing our office until further notice. Travel insurance claims should be made to Red Sky, 866-889-7409- Sun Trip Preserver Program and policy number is your reservation number.Stay safe! We hope to be bringing you back to the beach soon.

Evacuation orders have been issued for Carteret County. We are asking all guests to leave by 12 noon TODAY (Tuesday) so that we may secure properties for the storm. The bridge to Atlantic Beach will be closed as of 7:00 am Thursday with no access to the island. An emergency shelter for Carteret County residents has been set up at Knightdale High School in Knightdale, NC. There will be no shelters in Carteret County. Our office will be open Tuesday for regular business hours 9 to 5.

We are monitoring Hurricane Florence and making preparations. Carteret County has declared a state of emergency ahead of any potential impacts. No evacuation orders have been issued.
The public may utilize Carteret County's online disaster management tool, WebEOC. Residents and visitors can access the system to find updates information on roads, bridges, shelters and county press releases by going to https://carteret.webeocasp.com/carteret/. To log in , the user name is "public" and the password is "public" (all in lowecase letters).
